Eurovision 2010

Last night was the night when Europe is supposed to come together and celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest. Apart from heavy tactical voting and "unique" acts that is precisely what Europe did. Well done to all the performances and protestors. Well done Germany, Greece, Turkey, France, Serbia, Moldova and the UK for coming last again. Order is restored. Well done Lena!

In with the new

Remember the saying "Out with the old and in with the new"? I decided to act on that and tomorrow I'm going to apply that saying to my hair. Tomorrow I'm going to give my hair a long awaited defined style for the first time since I was very little. It should be interesting and hopefully turns out better than expected since I was three. That seems ages ago and it really was. This is what I'm aiming for...

Wish me luck :)

The ever approaching future

If step out of your door and you don't keep your feet there is no knowing where you'll be swept off to...

Moorland

Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

"I'm not being funny but..."

Do you remember the old gang of Robin Hood? Robin, Much, Little John, Jack, Will and Alan and Roy for a short time. Ah those were the days...

Hidden gems

Like sparkling gems they hide, deep within the roots of an ancient tree...

Audrey Hepburn Lives on...

Although Audrey Hepburn died in 1993 there are reminders of her grace and style even now. Like little pockets of fresh air in a smog-filled world.

Though there will only ever be one Audrey Hepburn...

My Dream Vintage Wardrobe

Straight from the 20s, 30s and 40s

From Dorothy Perkins, Charming Girl, Miss Selfridge and Urban Outfitters.

If money was no object...

If money was no object I'd live in a pretty cottage in the hills with a cherry tree and a little latch gate leading to a quaint village green. The weather would be perfect even in the rain it would look wonderful. Though that would be the greatest thing if money was no object. In an ideal world there would be, in that cottage, a good collection of books for me to read on a window seat and a fine wardrobe of vintage clothes. And, of course, someone to share this with... :)

A beautiful house

Friday, 14 May 2010

I read about it in a novel once...

“The house was built in Elizabeth’s time, and is a large, regular, brick building; heavy, but respectable looking, and has many good rooms. It is ill placed. It stands in one of the lowest spots of the park; in that respect, unfavourable for improvement. But the woods are fine, and there is a stream, which, I dare say, might be made a good deal of. Mr. Rushworth is quite right, I think, in meaning to give it a modern dress, and I have no doubt that it will be all done extremely well.” - Mansfield Park

There's nothing better when you see an old country house half concealed behind dark trees. This house looks so perfect in it's surroundings --- I wonder what the magnificent rooms contain, what secrets were whispered in the corridors and who used to call that house a home?

Exploring...

I was out walking through the fields of lush grass, speckled with golden dandelions, when I found something: a stick. Perfectly ordinary before I realised that every explorer needs a trusty stick!

If you go into the woods today...♥

'If you go into the woods today, You're sure of a big surprise. If you go out in the woods today, You'd better go in disguise.'

Bonjour :)

Je m'appelle Aliènor and this is 'La petit maison dans la forêt'. I am christening it with the first post so *drum roll please* this is what you can expect from 'La petit maison dans la forêt'.

In a few months time I'll hopefully be taking a course in photography so I thought it would be wise to get some practise. In the future I also want to be a writer and this worked for Cassandra in 'I Capture the Castle' except she used a penny notebook and I decided on a blog. Modern day equivalant? Anyway - Welcome to 'La petit maison dans la forêt'.
